Below is a link to a downloadable Excel file that lists all commodity codes, formerly category codes and their associated catalog designations and product descriptions. Procurement Initiators will need this information when purchasing from vendors and suppliers in the CU Marketplace. 

  • For example, 10100000 (Commodity Code) is associated with Live Animals (Description) and Lab Supplies & Equipment (Commodity). 

PLEASE NOTE: If a good or service is associated with a Commodity Code, then a Purchase Order is required.

Navigating Within the Commodity Codes

There are two options to search within the file:

  1. At the top of the screen you will find filters for all columns.  Within the filters are all available selections in the table.  Popular searches are by Commodity Code, Description, or Commodity.  Only one drop down can be used at a time.  
  2. Manually scroll through the entire list of Commodity Codes.
