There are a variety of ways to purchase goods and services, depending on the type of good and/or service, the cost, and the relationship the supplier has with Columbia. We strongly encourage supplier selection based on the preferred hierarchy outlined on the Learn About Supplier Types page.
If a purchase cannot be completed through a Catalog Supplier or UwPA Supplier, you may pursue a Non-Catalog Supplier.

All Catalog Suppliers in the CU Marketplace are enhanced UwPA vendors only available in the CU Marketplace. Non-Catalog UwPA vendors can be searched in the Columbia Blue Pages Shopping Directory by selecting UwPAs under Supplier Type.
To purchase from a UwPA vendor, submit a Non-Catalog Goods and Services Request Form identifying the preferred vendor and the respective goods and/or services. UwPA requisitions created from the Non-Catalog Goods and Services Request Form in the CU Marketplace will trigger an auto-sourced direct purchase order sent to the supplier.

In the event that a product, but more likely a service, is unavailable from a Catalog Supplier or a UwPA Supplier, you may proceed with submitting a Non-Catalog Goods and Services Request Form for a Non-Catalog Supplier sourced by administrators or other designated staff.
However, you cannot create a requisition for and/or pay a Non-Catalog Supplier until that vendor has been added to ARC via PaymentWorks. The Non-Catalog Suppliers in the Columbia Blue Pages Directory have already been set up in Columbia's financial system and have been identified as frequently used or popular Non-Catalog Suppliers.

How Do I Find a Vendor?
For assistance finding a vendor that matches your purchasing needs, visit the Columbia Blue Pages Shopping Directory to view a searchable "phone book" of recommended vendors that have agreements in place with Columbia University. More than 90 vendors can be filtered according to Category Code, Supplier Type, or Marketplace Shop Category (as seen on the Shop dashboard).
Search by Marketplace Shop Category or Category Code to find vendors associated with specific products, or search by Supplier Type to filter according to the following selections:
- Catalog Suppliers
- UwPA Suppliers
- Facilities UwPA Suppliers
- Travel Vendors
- Non-Catalog Suppliers
